John D. Davis, CPA/ABV, CVA, CFE
John D. Davis is a Certified Public Accountant, Accredited in Business Valuation by the American Institute of CPA's, a Certified Valuation Analyst by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, and a Certified Fraud Examiner by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He founded of Davis & Company, CPA's in 1988.
A graduate of Miami University, John passed the CPA exam in 1986 and quickly began his career in specializing in taxation and accounting for small businesses and individuals. After stops at two large firms, he set out on his own forming the firm that is now known as Davis & Company.
With extensive accounting, tax and consulting experience and training, he began to develop niche specialties which include business valuation and forensic accounting. Because of these skills and experience, he was in high demand for dealing with business acquisitions and sales.
Business valuation and related consulting has become his cornerstone with the firm. In addition to preparing business valuation reports, John is active in litigation support in the areas of business valuation, economic damages and forensic accounting. He also has extensive experience in pricing, negotiating and structuring business transactions relating to purchases, sales and mergers. Because of diverse background in business valuation and related theory, he also continues to provide consulting services regarding general business planning.
To satisfy his true entrepreneur spirit, John has been actively involved in purchasing and selling businesses with other partners. Over the years, John has purchased, turned around and sold a transportation and distribution company, he purchased and sold a steel fabrication company, and has purchased two plastic manufacturing companies that have been merged together and continue to operate.
John has an extensive speaking background presenting seminars for accountants and non-accountants on matters pertaining to all aspects of small business enterprises. Some of the groups for which he has presented include: The Ohio Society of CPA's, The Cleveland Accounting Show, NACVA Ohio Chapters, The Metro Crime Bureau, Ohio Business Brokers Association, Ohio Security Professionals, and many others.
